Joyce Knock is a retired  teacher with  experience at  all levels of education…from preschool through college.  She was inspired to write “I am NOT dumb and I am NOT a stinky butt!” as a result of volunteering in her grandson’s first grade classroom.  While working with the students she was privy to the names that they were calling each other either in the classroom, lunchroom or on the playground.  Being aware that name calling is the number #1 form of bullying and the damage and hurt that it can permanently inflict on children she decided to write a “child friendly” book addressing the issue.  When not promoting her book she is active in volunteer work in her community, Des Moines, Iowa.  Her volunteer work includes mentoring an adult student at the Drake University Reading Program, advocating for children as a Court Appointed Special Advocate [CASA], as a relief manager at the Ronald McDonald House and a general population library assistance at the Women’s Prison at Mitchellville, Iowa
